The Ohio State Bar Association is searching for a successor to its long-tenured Executive Director who will retire in June 2013. The OSBA's core purpose is to advance the professional interests of its members and make membership in the association indispensable to Ohio lawyers.
Duties
The executive director conducts the association's affairs and provides the leadership and stimulus to accomplish its goals and objectives. The executive director (who is the association's CEO) reports to a 24-person Board of Governors. Key responsibilities include:
  • Directing a 65-person staff and overseeing the association's programs and activities;
  • Managing the association's finances; and
  • Maintaining working relationships with association members, the public in general, and other external constituents.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in business, law, public administration or a related field is highly desired.
  • Record of successful association management.
  • Currently serving as the top executive of a comparable professional services-focused association or bar association with a proven track record. Persons serving as the ?number two? executive or holding other senior-level general management positions may also be considered.
  • Significant experience leading membership retention and growth of a voluntary association of professionals is highly preferred.

  • Excellent leadership and management skills; excellent judgment.
  • Leadership qualities, entrepreneurial mindset, and excellent communications skills, including public speaking.
  • High personal integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to project a professional demeanor at all times.
Salary & Benefits
The executive director is expected to earn an attractive compensation package; appropriate perquisites and relocation assistance will be provided.
