COMMITTEE NEWS

The Section's Pro Bono and Tax Clinics Committee organized the annual Low Income Taxpayer Representation Workshop and reception on Monday, December 3. Nearly 100 low income taxpayer clinic practitioners from across the country attended and received valuable training on representing clients before the IRS. The Section thanks Bingham McCutchen LLP, for hosting the Workshop and reception at their D.C. offices.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

FRANCINE LIPMAN is a professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law. Professor Lipman currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Pro Bono and Tax Clinics Committee, as well as Special Features Editor of NewsQuarterly. She is the immediate past chair of the Section's Pro Bono Committee. Ms. Lipman has written extensively on tax and accounting issues for numerous legal journals, including The Tax Lawyer and The Practical Tax Lawyer. She instituted the Pro Bono Matters column in NewsQuarterly and regular pro bono outreach events with military bases and low income taxpayers as well as tax exempt organizations before each Section of Taxation meeting. JOINT COMMITEE ON EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
