The American Judicature Society, an independent, nonpartisan, membership organization working nationally to protect the integrity of the justice system, seeks an executive director.
AJS is currently forming a new affiliation with Vanderbilt Law School in Nashville, TN. The executive director will be resident in Nashville and will oversee the relocation of the Society?s headquarters from Des Moines to Nashville beginning in late summer 2013.
Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing all programs, publications, and operations of the AJS;
Overseeing fundraising and annual budgeting;
Building relationships with Vanderbilt Law School faculty, students, and alumni;
Recruiting and managing professional staff; and
Working with volunteer leaders to maximize organizational effectiveness.
Significant travel is required, and may comprise up to 40% of time.
Law degree (J.D.)
Substantive knowledge of law, courts, and research on judicial process
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated success in fundraising and resource development
Strategic planning and organizational management skills
Salary & Benefits
Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include group health insurance and dental plan, paid vacation and sick leave, group life insurance plan, and defined contribution pension plan (eligible after two full years of service).
