The Oakland County Bar Association, Michigan's largest voluntary bar, is seeking an executive director. This position serves as the chief executive officer of the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) and its charitable affiliate, the Oakland County Bar Foundation (OCBF). The executive director provides superior leadership and management in board relations, external relations, strategic leadership, operations management and organizational development. Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing human and capital resources, using best practices and creating a culture of positive interpersonal relationships within the organization
  • Managing the bar's finances, including, budgeting, auditing, governance and control;
  • Developing and managing programs and policies, including continuing legal education, legislative policy and public service;
  • Supporting OCBA officers, Board of Directors, committees and members;
  • Supporting the OCBF Board of Trustees, committees and volunteers, and;
  • Creating long-term planning for promoting membership, membership services and support for voluntary members.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in areas including, but not limited to, nonprofit management, program development, public relations and fundraising
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong business and finance background
  • Demonstrated management skill
  • Familiarity with tax acknowledgment guidelines and procedures/ best practices
  • Excellent written skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
