The calendar says it is Spring, so it must be. This year, better proof of Springtime than the weather, are the arrival of the many CLE programs for which TIPS is known. In addition, the Spring Meeting will be here before we know it.
The Workers' Compensation Committee held their Midwinter Seminar & Conference two weeks ago in Chicago. They had a fantastic turnout and attendees were able to witness the many St. Patrick's Day festivities, including when the river (frozen almost solid a few weeks earlier during the Midyear Meeting) was dyed green. Prior to the program, the Committee leaders led by Chair Tony MacAuley and Chair-Elect Stacy Tees, participated in a strategic planning session with other committee leaders, and the future of the committee looks good! Our Motor Vehicle Product Liability and Toxic Torts programs are coming up next week in beautiful Phoenix, AZ. And don't forget the 2nd TIPS Member Mondays Free Webinar, which will take place on April 7 and is an excellent program titled The Ins and Outs of Interpreting and Applying D&O and E&O Policy Exclusions.
The annual TIPS/ABOTA National Trial Academy is being held April 12-16, as always, in Reno. If your firm has not sent a budding trial lawyer to attend this one-of-a-kind program, please call to see if there is still room this year, and, if not, keep it in mind for next year. On April 16, I hope you will attend the TIPS Animal Law Committee webinar, Animal Law and the Constitution: Property, Preemption and Police Power. The expertise and passion of our ALC members virtually guarantees that all of their programming will be interesting, educational and provocative, and this one is no exception. Our Property Insurance Law program on April 24-26, Resolution of Property Insurance Claims in the Modern Age-Appraisal, Mediation and Arbitration, will be held at a new location, the beautiful Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad, CA. Please visit the TIPS website to find out how you can attend these programs.
Registration is now open for the TIPS Spring Leadership Meeting to be held May 14-18 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, FL. The room block is also open, so please register and make your hotel reservations as soon as possible. This meeting features a full slate of Committee and Task Force meetings, our 3rd Plenary Session of the year, a dockside Welcome Reception, three hours of CLE on claims involving tourists and cruise ships, the Leadership in Action Luncheon where the Kirsten Christophe Award will be presented (and a Florida Supreme Court Justice will speak) and a Saturday evening reception at the oceanfront Beach Club. The meeting hotel has 2 golf courses right out the back door, and TIPS is holding a golf tournament Friday afternoon. I hope you will not miss your chance to network at our various events, earn valuable CLE and enjoy some fun with your fellow TIPSters in sunny Florida!
Every year is a special year for TIPS, and this one is no exception. Our goal of providing irreplaceable value to our members is what motivates the Section's leaders and staff. I look forward to seeing, and meeting, many of you at our upcoming meetings and programs.
