Gene BeckhamTIPS Members,

I hope you are enjoying your summer. This month, TIPS has presented several valuable and convenient webinars and teleconferences including Recent Developments Relating to the Definition of What is a "Loss" Under Common D&O and Professional Liability Coverages, How Workers' Compensation Insurance Premium Fraud Destabilizes the Competitive Markets, An Ethical Trek Through the Digital Domain: Social Media, Mobile Devices and More, and the TIPS Member Mondays FREE webinar - Get Out of My Case: Making and Opposing Motions to Disqualify. I hope you were able to attend these interesting and informative programs. In July, the TIPS Professionals' Officers' and Directors' Liability Committee is presenting a webinar entitled Are We Related? A Look at Interrelationship Provisions in Claims-Made Policies on the 15th and the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee is hosting a free program in Los Angeles on Implied Disparagement Claims on the 18th. Please click on these links for more information.

TIPS is also busy preparing for the upcoming ABA Annual Meeting being held August 7-10, 2014 in historical Boston, MA. In addition to our committee and governance meetings, the Annual Meeting will deliver a tremendous amount of valuable content while providing the opportunity to network with other members and local attorneys. The slate of TIPS programs offers something for every TIPS attorney's practice areas and covers a variety of important topics and emerging trends in tort and insurance law, from food distribution and animal trade, to terrorism insurance and "big data" suits. The panels of industry experts with diverse perspectives will provide each program with unique and thoughtful dialogue and insights. We are very proud that one of our programs, Game-Changer: The States' Big Gamble on Legalized Sports Betting, whose panel includes former US Solicitor General Theodore B. Olson of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, LLP in Washington, D.C., has been selected to be a MAGNITUDE360 CLE Showcase Program!

The TIPS headquarter hotel for the Annual Meeting will be the historic and beautiful Omni Parker House Hotel. If you haven't already done so, I encourage you to register and make your hotel arrangements immediately before our room block is released and rates increase on July 16th. The TIPS Annual Meeting website is the only resource you will need to guide you through the new registration process and structure and keep you updated on the meeting schedule. When registering, please remember to purchase tickets for the Welcome Reception which will be held across the street from the Omni Parker House at the John Adams Courthouse on Friday, August 8th, and the James Carroll Leadership & Awards Dinner which will be held at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum on August 9th.

Also, have you had a chance to check out the 2014 TIPS Book Catalog? TIPS has published hundreds of top-notch publications to help you become a better lawyer and keep you informed in your area of practice. Our newest additions to the catalog are now available in electronic format. Take a look at the TIPS Book Catalog today!

In addition to everything else, Boston in August will be wonderful. I hope to see you there.
